Being Called a Faggot

This is Davey, a 28 year old man whose YouTube videos deal with homosexuality, sexual identity, amongst others. In this video of his, he discusses the feelings accompanied by being called a Faggot. I find most interesting that people are so raw with their comments nowadays. The use of the word "faggot" to describe anything is still controversial to me because anything could mean just what a person does not want to hear. If the word has any meaning, or the meaning that each individual wants to attach to it, then it can be an extremely fatal word. No one knows that lethality that a word can have on someone, and so its desensitization is troublesome.
In the dictionary, the definition of Faggot is "slang, a term offensive to a gay man". It shocks me how the word has several meanings that are dependent on the context. For example, Eminem's meaning of the word is "taking away your manhood", has nothing to do with the dictionary's description of the word. As for Davey, he holds a different definition, one which is disrespectful and hurtful.
